A Note About Fragrance & Natural Color Changes

Many fragrance oils—especially those containing vanillin, such as vanilla, pumpkin, bakery, and other warm gourmand fragrances—can naturally cause soap to darken over time.

A soap that begins cream, tan, or another lighter shade may gradually develop into a deeper tan or brown as the vanillin oxidizes. This can occur in both melt & pour soaps and cold-process artisan soaps and is a normal characteristic of the fragrance oil.
